Last season, Kerr was also on an expiring contract but signed a record two-year, $35 million extension. However, this season, he’s taking a different stance. “I don’t anticipate any negotiation during the season,” he noted. “I don’t think about it. Waiting makes sense for all of us.”
His comments reflect an understanding that the Warriors’ golden era might be winding down. Kerr emphasized that if the time comes for him to step away, it will be handled with dignity and gratitude. “It will happen the right way,” he said. “Let’s see where we are at the end of the year.”

Recent surveys show that about 70% of coaches are more inclined to wait until the end of a season to discuss extensions, emphasizing results over contracts.
