This year, a fresh iPad Pro is in the spotlight. A Russian YouTube channel, Wylsacom, has shared a video showing what looks like a retail version of a new 256GB 13-inch iPad Pro with a surprising M5 processor. This would mark the first upgrade since the M4 version debuted in May 2024.
Interestingly, Wylsacom previously gave viewers an early look at the M4 MacBook Pro, adding credence to their latest claims. While the video covers issues like packaging and the standard design updates from Apple, it also mentions some promising performance metrics for the M5 chip.
From quick Geekbench 6 tests, the new M5 seems to boost CPU performance by about 10 to 15% and GPU performance by roughly 34% compared to the M4. This chip features three high-performance CPU cores and six efficient ones, matching the setup of the previous high-storage iPad Pro.
What stands out is the potential for enhanced graphics capabilities. While we don’t know the exact number of GPU cores, the significant performance improvements suggest Apple may have increased graphics cores from the M4’s 10. Enhancements could also stem from better clock speeds or faster RAM.
