Perry, Ga. – The results are in! The Georgia National Fair has announced the winners of its 4th annual Fair Food Fight.
This year, 20 vendors showcased their most creative dishes, with live judging happening right before fairgoers’ eyes. Judges rated each dish on taste and creativity, scoring them between one and five.
Audrey Kittila, this year’s Miss Georgia, and TikTok stars Josh and Momma joined in to taste-test the entries alongside local celebrity William Bazzone.
The top savory dish was the “Tybee Island Dog,” crafted by Swift Concessions. This unique hot dog is deep-fried and topped with local Georgia pimento cheese, homemade jalapeño mustard, and crispy bacon. Owner Zach Swift expressed his excitement, saying it was their first blue ribbon of the year. “We created the Tybee Island Dog just for the Georgia Fair because both pimento cheese and Tybee are local gems,” he noted.
On the sweet side, Griff Gillette snagged the Judge’s Sweet Choice award with his impressive Cookie Butter Sandwich Extravaganza. This dessert features homemade vanilla bean ice cream blended with cookie butter, chocolate chunks, and Biscoff cookie crumbles, all wedged between two rich chocolate cookies. “We try to keep thinking outside the box,” he told WGXA. “It’s all about creativity!”
Remarkably, this is Gillette’s third win in four years for his shop, Polar Bear Ice Cream. He’s already brainstorming ideas for next year’s competition.
William also recommended trying the Elote Quesadilla from Fiesta Grill, along with that delicious cookie sandwich.
