The Google Home team recently answered user queries following the launch of Gemini for Home. This program aims to give users a sneak peek at new features. Early Access is different from the Public Preview, which covers the latest updates to the Google Home app.
Gemini for Home allows select users to experience new features and provide feedback to improve them. Signing up for Early Access means you won’t get the features right away; notifications will come when they are ready for your home.
Currently, Early Access is rolling out in the US, Canada, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Ireland. Other countries like Japan, Belgium, and Mexico will soon follow this initiative. Starting October 28, subscribers in the US will be the first to access Gemini for Home features.
Interestingly, Google is collaborating with third-party companies to expand Gemini for Home to more devices. This step signifies a broader push for integration, as more users rely on smart home technology. According to a recent survey by Smart Home Solutions, 70% of households now use at least one smart device, highlighting the importance of new and improved features in this market.
Gemini will be available for all generations of Nest cameras and doorbells since 2015. This includes newer brands like Walmart’s onn camera and doorbell.
Users with existing subscriptions or those who migrated from the Nest app will need to activate specific features to access Gemini. For instance, ADT customers will maintain their existing features, but it’s best to check with ADT directly for specific queries.
This evolution in smart home technology is not just about convenience—it’s about connection and control. As we move forward, products like Gemini for Home represent a significant leap toward smarter living.
