CHEYENNE, Wyo. — The Cheyenne-Laramie County Health Department plays a vital role in keeping our food establishments safe. They inspect restaurants, bars, grocery stores, and more—each receives a surprise check-up at least twice a year.
There are two main types of violations found during these inspections: critical and non-critical. Critical violations can lead to foodborne illnesses, while non-critical ones typically relate to cleanliness and maintenance.
The health department aims to address critical violations right away, either immediately or within 24 hours. Non-critical issues may take longer to resolve, with follow-ups scheduled during the next inspection. For any serious violations requiring re-inspection, the facility has ten days to fix the problems.
Importantly, the health department prioritizes educating businesses about safe practices. A clean bill of health doesn’t always mean a business is perfect; it’s about continuous improvement.
