The game turned in Washington’s favor when Mike Sainristil intercepted a pass from Justin Herbert, sealing the Chargers’ fate. The defense was instrumental, racking up five sacks, including two by Dorance Armstrong and 1.5 by Von Miller.

Despite Herbert’s decent performance—22 completions on 29 attempts for 166 yards and a touchdown—he struggled under pressure and had to be replaced by Trey Lance. In total, the Chargers’ offense only managed 336 yards compared to Washington’s 389.
