The Hawaiʻi Food and Wine Festival is celebrating its 15th year, and it’s set to be more exciting than ever. This October, the festival will host a range of fresh events across Oʻahu, Maui, and Hawaiʻi Island. It’s a great opportunity for locals and visitors to experience amazing culinary delights.
One of the standout features this year is the collaboration with ‘Ōuli Farms in Kohala. Chefs like Roy Yamaguchi are leading the creation of a chefs’ garden, showcasing a farm-to-table initiative. Guests can enjoy dishes made with produce from this garden during the festival. Afterward, these ingredients will find their way into participating chefs’ restaurant menus. The farm has already made impressive contributions, planting over 325 trees and donating more than 6,000 pounds of fresh produce to the community.
This year also marks the debut of the Cuisines of the Sun Golf Classic, hosted by chef Alan Wong. Golf enthusiasts will enjoy local bites and drinks while navigating the Mauna Kea Golf Course. The demand for tickets shows just how popular this event is, so keep an eye out for future tournaments. They might become regulars in the festival lineup.
Another exciting addition is the FEAST Summit on October 31 at the Sheraton Waikīkī Beach Resort. This all-day conference will feature influential speakers from various fields, discussing the future of food, agriculture, sustainability, and more. Notable figures like chef Michael Mina and local leaders will engage in conversations that matter, addressing how food can drive economic and cultural change.
Festival-goers can also expect unique tasting events throughout the islands. Each location offers a distinct experience filled with a celebration of flavors. Hotels partnering with the festival are providing special rates for those looking to stay nearby and fully indulge in the festivities.
