Virginia Lowe’s Cat Embarks on 85-Mile Adventure to North Carolina: A Journey of Survival and Reunion!

Francine, the beloved cat at a Lowe’s in Richmond, Virginia, recently had an unexpected adventure. She ended up in North Carolina after mistakenly hitching a ride in a delivery truck.

When Francine disappeared, the local community quickly stepped in to help find her. An Instagram page dedicated to her search gained over 30,000 followers. “Once people heard she was missing, everyone wanted to help,” said Wayne Schneider, a supervisor at Lowe’s.

Store cameras revealed that Francine had wandered into a delivery vehicle. This vehicle traveled about 85 miles to a distribution center in Garysburg, North Carolina. Store manager Mike Sida was initially hopeful. “I knew we would find her, but it would be on her terms,” he shared.

Animal control in Northampton County set humane traps and posted signs with her picture all over the warehouse. They used thermal drones and checked countless security cameras. After more than two weeks, Francine was located. Schneider and Sida drove down with her favorite food to coax her out safely.

The moment Francine was found, it felt like a miracle. “We were overjoyed,” Schneider recalled. The Lowe’s team and the Richmond community celebrated her return. “She’s not just a store cat; she’s family,” Sida emphasized.

To keep her safe now, Francine wears a harness with a tracker. This ensures her coworkers can monitor her adventures closely from now on.

The story has resonated widely, reflecting how communities can rally together for a cause, even when it involves a cat! It’s a charming reminder of the bonds we share with our furry friends.
