Kean University Appoints Therese Doyle Tullis as Deputy Director of Athletics
On October 9, 2025, Kean University announced the promotion of Therese Doyle Tullis to Deputy Director of Athletics. Kelly Williams, the Vice President of Athletics and Recreation, highlighted her outstanding leadership and dedication to student-athletes as key reasons for the appointment. Williams stated, “Her commitment to our community is remarkable, and I trust her to guide us into a promising future in athletics.”
Doyle Tullis joins this role after serving as the Associate Director of Athletics since November 2022. In her new position, she will manage daily operations within the Athletic Department, including fiscal oversight, budget planning, and Title IX compliance. She has been instrumental in launching initiatives like the Opendorse Name, Image, and Likeness platform, which helps athletes monetize their personal brand. Additionally, she collaborates closely with various campus departments, such as Admissions and Human Resources.
Itunu Balogun, Vice President of Innovation and Engagement, praised Doyle Tullis for her steadfast dedication. “Her influence on our athletics program has been significant. This promotion is well-deserved, and I look forward to seeing where her leadership takes us next.”
Doyle Tullis is also engaged in broader NCAA and conference governance. She sits on the NCAA Division III Field Hockey Committee and has participated in various advisory roles for women’s sports. In the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC), she has chaired several committees focused on officiating, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Before joining Kean, Doyle Tullis worked at Rutgers-Camden for six years, advancing to Assistant Director of Athletics. She holds an M.B.A. from Rutgers-Camden and an M.S. in Sport Business from Temple University. She completed her undergraduate work in English at Saint Joseph’s University, where she was a celebrated field hockey player.
