Lehigh Wrestlers Set for NWCA All-Star Classic
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Two Lehigh wrestlers, Sheldon Seymour and Max Brignola, are gearing up for the 2025 NWCA All-Star Classic on November 1 at Rutgers’ Jersey Mikes Arena. This event showcases top talent from around the nation.
Seymour (125 pounds) will take on Eddie Ventresca from Virginia Tech, while Brignola (165 pounds) faces Hunter Garvin from Stanford. Seymour is coming off a strong season, where he earned a spot as a 2025 NCAA All-American. He finished with a record of 22-6, clinched the EIWA Championship, and reached the NCAA semifinals, ultimately securing sixth place.
In the latest preseason rankings, Seymour sits at fifth, and Ventresca is ranked fourth. Their match will also be a rematch of last year’s NCAA fifth-place bout, which Ventresca won decisively.
Brignola, who deferred eligibility last season, ended with an impressive 15-0 record while wrestling unattached. He’s a two-time NCAA qualifier, competing at the championships during his freshman year and again in 2024. Garvin, who ranked sixth at last year’s NCAA Championships, is currently placed fourth in his weight class, with Brignola right behind at seventh.
This year marks a significant return for Lehigh wrestling at the NWCA All-Star Classic. The last participant from the team was Connor McGonagle, who won his match in 2023.
The event will be broadcast on FloWrestling.org and is the starting point of Lehigh’s season. The team will compete again at the Princeton Open on November 2.
These matches are not just a display of skill; they reflect the growing competitiveness of college wrestling. According to recent NCAA statistics, college wrestling continues to attract more participants each year, indicating a bright future for the sport.
For fans, this is more than just wrestling; it’s about community and school spirit. Many Lehigh supporters are eager to see how Seymour and Brignola perform, especially given their impressive backgrounds.
