Grandview Health Marks 10th Anniversary with Special Celebration Featuring First Baby Born at Hospital

On October 10, Grandview Health celebrated its 10-year anniversary, marking a significant milestone in improving healthcare for Birmingham area residents. Originally named Trinity Medical Center, Grandview moved to the 280 corridor in 2015, making it more accessible for people in Shelby and Jefferson counties while boosting local economic growth.

In its decade of service, Grandview Health has expanded significantly. Key developments include enhanced offerings in women’s services, cardiology, and a revamped emergency department. The Grandview Cancer Center opened in 2018, and recent additions like the Grandview Physicians Plaza II and Trussville Freestanding Emergency Department have focused on increasing patient care.

Over the past ten years, Grandview has invested over $131 million, leading to new jobs and expanded healthcare access. The hospital has also provided more than $1.7 billion in salaries and benefits to staff and contributed over $370 million in taxes to support local initiatives. Remarkably, hospital admissions have surged from 11,523 in 2015 to over 29,000 in 2024.

Grandview’s growth wouldn’t be possible without community support, as noted by CEO Daniel McKinney: “From local leaders to the patients who trust us, we are incredibly grateful. While we celebrate today, our focus remains on delivering the best care for our patients now and in the future.”

A touching moment during the celebration was the appearance of Meghan Whitney, the first baby born at Grandview, along with her mother Tracy, who worked in Women’s Services and played a crucial role during the hospital’s opening day.
