PENSACOLA, Fla. – The Florida State baseball team kicked off its fall season on Saturday with a thrilling game against Mississippi State. This matchup at Blue Wahoos Stadium was a rematch of the 2025 NCAA Tallahassee Regional Final, drawing a lively crowd of 5,038 fans.

In this exciting 14-inning exhibition, redshirt senior Eli Putnam shined, hitting a home run and collecting two hits while scoring two runs. Freshman Kelvyn Paulino Jr. made a splash in his collegiate debut, driving in two runs with key singles that came with two outs. Sophomore Jace Estes also contributed significantly with two RBIs from his lone hit, and Noah Sheffield added to the offensive effort with two hits and an RBI.

On the pitching side, junior left-hander Trey Beard and right-hander Brodie Purcell both impressed in their FSU debuts, each throwing two scoreless innings. Beard allowed just one hit and struck out one, while Purcell didn’t give up any hits and struck out two. This solid performance from the pitching staff continued, with four more Seminole pitchers contributing a shutout.

This game was the first of three exhibitions as part of Florida State’s 2025 Fall Ball, presented by GEICO. Up next, FSU will host UAB on October 25, followed by the Garnet & Gold All-Star Game on October 31, which wraps up with a Home Run Derby.
