Stockton University’s Ospreys Give Event Surpasses 8K: A Triumph in Community Giving! | ROI-NJ

The recent Ospreys Give event at the Stockton University Foundation was a huge success. Over 1,400 donors came together on October 8 and 9, raising an impressive $608,852 for various university programs. This year, the campaign’s theme was “One Day, One Stockton,” which truly captured the spirit of unity within the community.

Supported by alumni, students, faculty, and friends, the donations will benefit 140 different initiatives, including scholarships, athletics, and academic programs. This event not only hit its target but broke previous records for donor participation and funds raised.

In a recent announcement, President Joe Bertolino introduced a new Strategic Plan aimed at doubling the annual fundraising. He emphasized how community support is vital for Stockton’s future. “The collective generosity reflects our commitment to advancing student success and innovation,” Bertolino noted.

The event featured several matching challenges, significantly amplifying the impact of donations. For example, Spencer’s and Spirit Halloween contributed a $250,000 challenge gift. Other notable contributions included $50,000 from Tom Kinsella of the South Jersey Culture & History Center and $20,000 from the Gormley and Levine families. These challenges encouraged more people to give, creating a ripple effect of generosity.

Dan Nugent, the vice president for university advancement, expressed gratitude for the support. “Our community is unlocking opportunities for students, making meaningful changes,” he said.

Recent trends show that community-driven campaigns like this are gaining momentum nationwide. According to a report by the Giving USA Foundation, charitable giving in the U.S. rose by 4.1% in 2022, signifying a growing trend of philanthropy. Events like Ospreys Give play an essential role in this landscape, demonstrating how collective efforts can directly impact education and community growth.

As we move forward, it’s clear that initiatives like Ospreys Give are more than just fundraising events; they represent a shared vision for a brighter future. By coming together, the Stockton community is reshaping lives and building a legacy of support for generations to come.
