Unlocking a Sustainable Tomorrow: Explore the UK Climate Action Fund for NGOs

Deadline: 17-Dec-2025

The Climate Action Fund – Our Shared Future is here to support innovative partnership projects focused on climate action. This initiative aims to engage local communities and drive meaningful change.

Partnerships can be local or regional, either in one part of the UK or across the country. Importantly, these partnerships should focus on a shared theme or identity, not just geography. Both new and existing partnerships are welcome. The goal is to help communities become more environmentally sustainable.

Funding starts at £500,000, with the average project receiving between £1 million and £1.5 million. Projects usually last between 3 to 5 years.

Only partnerships can apply; individual organizations aren’t eligible. The fund favors projects that either inspire community action at a broad level—connecting with larger campaigns—or that link climate action to everyday activities and interests. The aim is to foster enduring change by engaging people in relatable ways.

Applications from partnerships not led by traditional climate organizations are encouraged. The fund specifically seeks projects that reach those new to climate action or who may face economic or social challenges. Using common interests as a gateway for climate engagement can be a powerful approach.

In recent years, climate action has gained traction. A 2023 survey revealed that 70% of individuals in the UK are now more aware of climate issues compared to just 48% five years ago. Engaging diverse communities is crucial for making a broader impact. As climate scientist Dr. Emma Thompson states, “Grassroots movements often lead to the most effective change because they resonate with people’s everyday lives.”
