Mumbai, October 24: Shares of major defense companies rose on Thursday after the Defence Acquisition Council (DAC) green-lighted capital acquisition proposals worth around ₹79,000 crore for the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force.
At the BSE, Bharat Dynamics traded at ₹1,537.50, up ₹22.55 or 1.49% from the previous close. Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) gained ₹21.95 or 0.46%, reaching ₹4,830.80, while Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) rose ₹2.70 or 0.65%, trading at ₹421.20.
The DAC meeting on October 23, 2025, approved several key procurements, which are crucial for India’s defense modernization.
### Key Approvals for Forces
For the Indian Army:
– Nag Missile System (Tracked) Mk-II
– Ground-Based Mobile ELINT System
– High Mobility Vehicles with Material Handling Cranes
For the Indian Navy:
– Landing Platform Docks
– 30mm Naval Surface Guns
– Advanced Lightweight Torpedoes
– Electro Optical Infra-Red Search and Track Systems
– Smart Ammunition for 76mm Super Rapid Gun Mounts
For the Indian Air Force, approval was granted for the Collaborative Long Range Target Saturation/Destruction System and other advanced systems.
Experts suggest that these large-scale procurements will boost local defense manufacturing. This aligns with the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Companies like HAL, BEL, and Bharat Dynamics are expected to benefit from new contract opportunities.
Recent statistics support this growth of domestic manufacturing. A report from the Ministry of Defence revealed that locally manufactured defense goods grew by nearly 18% in the last fiscal year. It shows a positive trend towards self-reliance in defense production, which is vital for national security.
The enthusiasm for defense stocks also shows a growing sentiment among investors. Many are taking to social media to express optimism about these developments, highlighting them as a step forward for India’s defense capabilities.
As India’s defense landscape evolves, these approvals from DAC mark a significant effort to strengthen military readiness and promote self-sufficiency.
