These gatherings take place at Sunrise Children’s Hospital, MountainView Hospital, and Southern Hills Hospital. They celebrate the incredible journeys of the tiniest patients and the dedicated teams who cared for them during critical moments.
Todd Sklamberg, CEO of Sunrise Hospital, emphasizes the significance of these events. “We’re honoring the resilience of our NICU families,” he shares. It’s a day to recognize the strength of these babies and the determination of their families in achieving remarkable recoveries.
Families connect again with the healthcare professionals who played vital roles in their children’s care. Crystal Mendoza and George Kestner brought their daughter, Isabella, to the reunion after spending over a month in the NICU. “It was important for us to show the staff how far she has come,” Kestner explains.
Angela Weiner, a neonatologist at Sunrise Children’s Hospital, notes how meaningful these reunions are for both families and staff. “We do this every year,” says Weiner. “It’s special to see the babies grow and thrive after their time in the NICU.”
