On Monday, Indian Police Service probationers met with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. During their gathering, the president emphasized the importance of integrity in law enforcement. She expressed that true authority comes not just from laws, but from personal and professional integrity. President Murmu noted that a police force led by young, enthusiastic officers is vital for the growth and development of a “Viksit Bharat” or developed India.
This meeting comes at a time when police reform and modernization are hot topics in India. According to a recent study by the National Institute of Criminal Justice Reform, nearly 70% of citizens believe that police integrity is crucial for improving public trust.
Beyond her conversation with the probationers, President Murmu paid tribute to former President K.R. Narayanan on his birth anniversary. She also met with Punjab’s Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, and the Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, Vinai Kumar Saxena.
Earlier, President Murmu inaugurated Yashoda Medicity in Ghaziabad, Uttar Pradesh. She highlighted that healthcare is essential for nation-building, as it helps protect citizens and improve public health. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Yashoda Hospital played a significant role in treating numerous patients and aligned with national health goals, such as the National TB Elimination Program. The President encouraged the hospital to increase its efforts in battling issues like sickle cell anemia.
Overall, the President’s visits and meetings reflect a strong commitment to strengthening both law enforcement and healthcare in India, asserting that these areas are critical for the nation’s future.
