A Las Vegas food bank is stepping up to help as the federal government shutdown continues. Three Square announced it will expand its emergency relief efforts to support those feeling the pinch of food insecurity.
To aid the community, Three Square is opening a temporary donation site called the Agency Market. They are also collaborating with local partners to set up drive-thru distribution points for ease of access.
Emergency Food Relief Distribution will be available at the following locations:
Saturday, Nov. 1
7-9 a.m.:
- TCMI Church, 5101 N. Rainbow Blvd, Las Vegas, NV
- Central Church, 1001 New Beginnings Dr, Henderson, NV
Saturday, Nov. 1
9 a.m.-noon:
- College of Southern Nevada North Las Vegas, 3200 E. Cheyenne Ave
- UNLV, 4505 S. Maryland Pkwy
Beth Martino, the president and CEO of Three Square, emphasized the importance of community support during these uncertain times. Many families are facing food insecurity for the first time, and she reassured that Three Square will be there to help.
Recent statistics show that food insecurity has significantly increased across the U.S., affecting nearly 10% of households, according to the USDA. This rise is concerning and highlights the essential role food banks play in our society.

For those interested in helping, donations are encouraged. Items like canned proteins, fruits and vegetables, peanut butter, rice, pasta, beans, and ready-to-eat meals are highly requested. Donations can be dropped off at the Agency Market, located at 41900 N. Pecos Road, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday to Friday. Volunteering and monetary donations are also options for those looking to make a difference.
