Big Grove Brewery is stepping up to help those in need. If the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) doesn’t receive federal funding in November, the brewery plans to donate $12,000 to food banks. Each of the three selected food banks—Hawkeye Area Community Action Program (HACAP), the Food Bank of Iowa, and the Food Bank for the Heartland—will receive $4,000.
This initiative comes from Big Grove’s nonprofit, Big Grove for Good. They’re not stopping there; they’ll also give another $12,000 to local homeless shelters and services during National Hunger and Homelessness Awareness Week. Mikala Demet, the foundation’s Executive Director, emphasizes that food and shelter are essential for everyone. “These donations support the organizations and people dedicated to helping our neighbors fight hunger and homelessness,” she says.
Big Grove, with locations in Iowa and Omaha, Nebraska, is also honoring veterans on Veterans Day by offering meals to active-duty military personnel. The brewery continues its commitment to community service with plans for Thanksgiving and Christmas meal giveaways.
