Unleashing Their Inner Punk: Tamsin Greig and Rosalie Craig Star in Exciting New Drama – First Look!

Actresses Tamsin Greig and Rosalie Craig are stepping into the spotlight as punk rockers in the new drama series, “Riot Women.” Created by Sally Wainwright, known for her work on “Happy Valley,” the show features a talented cast including Joanna Scanlan, Lorraine Ashbourne, and Amelia Bullmore. Together, they portray a group of middle-aged women who form a punk rock band.

This six-part series focuses on the everyday challenges these women face. They juggle work, kids, aging parents, and the ups and downs of life, all while navigating the menopause. Their journey takes a lively turn as they enter a local talent contest and start writing original music, discovering they have powerful stories to tell.

In exciting promotional images, the cast is seen rocking out with colorful denim jackets, stylish tartan suits, and playful tassels. Rosalie Craig stands on a colorful sports car, hammer in hand, embodying the punk spirit. Lorraine Ashbourne, playing Jess, shows off a spiked hairstyle and a sparkling jacket while drumming on stage.

Wainwright expressed her enthusiasm for the series, saying she feels a “buzz of excitement” as they enter the editing phase. Set in the picturesque town of Hebden Bridge in West Yorkshire, “Riot Women” unravels hidden secrets between the characters Kitty and Beth, who shape the band’s creative vision.

The cast also includes Taj Atwal, Chandeep Uppal, and Macy-Jacob Seelochan, portraying the group’s energetic backing singers. Anne Reid takes on the role of Holly and Yvonne’s mother, while Sue Johnston appears as Jess’s aunt. The rich ensemble also features familiar faces like Peter Davison and Claire Skinner.

Original music from the band ARXX, known for their single “Ride Or Die,” will be featured throughout the series, adding an authentic punk rock vibe. “Riot Women” is set to premiere later this year on BBC iPlayer and BBC One in the UK, promising a fresh take on friendship, music, and self-discovery.
