Nebraska Dominates No. 11 Wisconsin in Straight Sets: A Thrilling Match for the Ages!

MADISON, Wis. — On a night filled with surprises, the No. 1 Nebraska volleyball team showcased their strength by easily defeating No. 11 Wisconsin in straight sets. The final scores were 25-22, 25-19, and 25-13, marking the Huskers’ 12th consecutive sweep.

Nebraska’s defense was impressive, limiting the Badgers to a hitting percentage of just .175. The Huskers won the blocking battle 9-3 and tallied 54 digs, with standout performances from Teraya Sigler, who led the team with 14 digs, and libero Laney Choboy, who added 10.

On the offensive end, junior outside hitter Harper Murray was a force, leading the team with 15 kills. Andi Jackson contributed 12 kills with a remarkable hitting percentage of .600. Rebekah Allick and Taylor Landfair also played key roles, with Allick contributing seven kills and six blocks, while Landfair had six error-free kills.

The match began with the Huskers establishing control early on. They had a strong start, creating a 7-4 lead in the first set. Wisconsin, however, fought back. Led by freshman Natalie Wardlow, who delivered a couple of aces, the Badgers tied the set at 18. But Nebraska responded quickly, and Murray sealed the first set with her seventh kill.

In the second set, after a close start, the Huskers began to pull away, taking a 15-7 lead. Wisconsin made a brief comeback, closing the gap to 17-13, but Nebraska maintained its composure to win.

The third set highlighted Nebraska’s dominance, with a 6-0 run giving them an 11-4 lead. Choboy served an ace and set up another kill for Murray, solidifying their win.

Wisconsin’s Mimi Colyer led her team with 14 kills, while Grace Egan added nine. Despite individual efforts, they couldn’t match Nebraska’s team strength.

With this victory, Nebraska improved to 21-0 overall and 11-0 in conference play, continuing their streak and further solidifying their top ranking.

The Huskers’ performance didn’t just create a buzz in the arena but also drew chatter on social media. Many fans expressed their excitement online, strengthening the team’s community.
