A Thrilling Victory for Alaska Anchorage
In an exciting overtime match, Alaska Anchorage pulled off a surprising 4-3 win against the No. 6 ranked Denver team. Dimitry Kebreau clinched the game with his first goal of the season just 3:55 into the overtime.
This victory marks Alaska Anchorage’s first win over a ranked opponent since they defeated No. 9 Providence back in January 2024.
The game kicked off with an early goal from Denver’s Kieran Cebrian at 9:25 in the first period. However, the Seawolves responded when Aiden Westin scored during a five-minute major penalty at 16:52. Ryan Johnson and Kebreau assisted, showcasing teamwork that led to Alaska’s first goal.
Denver quickly regained the lead in the second period when Rieger Lopez scored on a penalty shot at 12:10. This marked the first penalty shot goal conceded by Alaska since November 2024. Just three minutes later, Joey Potter tied the game for the Seawolves with a powerful shot from the blue line, netting him an assist from Johnson.
Potter then took charge, scoring his second goal of the night at 7:05 of the third period, giving the Seawolves a brief 3-2 lead. But the Pioneers weren’t done; James Reeder scored with just 80 seconds left, pushing the game into overtime.
In the extra period, Kebreau sealed the win with a well-placed shot, assisted by Conor Cole. Tyler Krivtsov stood out with a remarkable 46 saves, earning his second career win for the Seawolves.
Interestingly, despite Alaska Anchorage’s victory, Denver led in shots 49-20, illustrating how goals don’t always reflect control of the game.
This game not only highlights Alaska Anchorage’s resilience but also their ability to perform under pressure. As they prepare to face Denver again, fans eagerly await how they will build on this thrilling win.
