Keanu Reeves has expressed interest in returning as Johnny Silverhand in Cyberpunk 2077, despite Silverhand being dead when the game begins. Recently, Mike Pondsmith, the creator of the Cyberpunk series, mentioned he has “ways” to bring Johnny back, hinting at creative story possibilities.
In a recent stream hosted by CD Projekt Red, Pondsmith praised the series’ famous actors and showed enthusiasm for Reeves’ return. He noted, “I saw that Keanu would like to find a way to come back from the dead and play Johnny again. I have ways to do that, Keanu, contact me.”
The challenge is that Silverhand has been dead for decades, complicating the storyline. The multiple endings in Cyberpunk 2077 make his fate even more uncertain. It’s possible he could resurface as an AI, but this would align with only one of the game’s endings, which was ultimately decided by players.
Pondsmith also highlighted the depth that actors like Reeves and Idris Elba bring to their roles. He said, “They worked really well for the characters. They were actors who wanted to play those characters.” This passion likely explains why he’s open to Reeves returning in Cyberpunk 2, which is currently in development.
