The India Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has reached another impressive milestone by launching the LVM3-M5 rocket. This mission successfully placed the CMS-03 satellite, weighing in at 4,410 kg, into a geosynchronous transfer orbit. About the LVM3 Rocket
The LVM3, previously known as GSLV Mk-3, is ISRO’s most powerful launch vehicle. With its blend of solid, liquid, and cryogenic engines, it can carry up to 8,000 kg to low Earth orbit and 4,000 kg to geosynchronous orbit. The rocket was specially modified for this mission, increasing its payload capacity by 10% compared to past launches. This upgrade is part of ISRO’s ongoing efforts to push the boundaries of space exploration.
Future Plans
Looking ahead, ISRO aims to have seven more launches by March next year. Among these is a mission scheduled for December, involving the same LVM3 rocket. Additionally, work is underway for the Gaganyaan program—the first uncrewed mission will send a robot named Vyommitra into space as a precursor to future manned flights.
