In Echo Park, some businesses and public vehicles were vandalized. Large crowds gathered at various intersections, waving Dodgers flags and shooting fireworks, creating a festive yet chaotic scene.
In Pacoima, video footage showed cars doing donuts while fans set off fireworks. The LAPD had prepared for this by going on Tactical Alert earlier in the evening and shutting down specific streets to manage the large crowds effectively.
This kind of crowd behavior isn’t new. Major sporting victories often lead to spontaneous celebrations, sometimes resulting in disorder. A similar scenario unfolded back in 1988 when the Dodgers last won the World Series. That year, celebrations also attracted attention from law enforcement amid dangers such as vandalism.
Interestingly, a recent survey found that large sporting events tend to draw mixed reactions from the public, with about 60% of fans excited to join celebrations, while others express concern over safety and property damage. This duality showcases how passionate sports culture can be.
