The Vande Bharat sleeper train is a highly anticipated project for Indian Railways, but it’s been delayed due to various challenges. Recently, the Railway Ministry updated the public on its progress, mentioning issues with furnishings and design.
According to the Railway Board, there are several concerns, like sharp edges and cleaning challenges in the berthing areas. They’ve pinpointed these problems in a message to the RDSO and railway zones. To proceed, the train needs some design improvements and corrections.
The Ministry emphasized that operations must follow the guidelines from the RDSO. This includes adhering to speed limits of up to 160 km/h. Once the RDSO gets approval from the Chief Commissioner of Railway Safety, the Railway Ministry will give the final go-ahead for operations.
An interesting point to note is that the train route is still not finalized. The Ministry has mentioned essential checks like fire safety and communication systems between train staff and station masters.
Experts see the Vande Bharat project as vital for modernizing Indian railways. A recent survey showed that 70% of travelers prefer sleeper trains for long journeys, highlighting the need for upgraded services. Historical context is also important: earlier initiatives to modernize Indian railways faced similar delays but ultimately improved travel experiences for millions.
As we wait for the Vande Bharat sleeper train to launch, excitement is growing among potential passengers eager for a comfortable travel option.
