Catch the Excitement: Women’s Basketball Season Opener in Fullerton This Tuesday Night – Join Pepperdine University Athletics!

Pepperdine women’s basketball kicks off the 2025-26 season against CSU Fullerton tonight at Titan Gym. Coach Katie Faulkner is excited about the new team. “I believe this team will compete in every game. We have a devoted group that’s dedicated to improving,” she said.

Last season, Pepperdine and CSU Fullerton had a nail-biting game, ending in a close 59-57 victory for the Waves. This matchup marks another exciting start for the Waves, who last opened their season on the road in 2022 against UNLV.

Game Highlights

  • This is a reshaped team with no returning players from last season. The coaching staff turned to the transfer portal to build a new squad.
  • The roster features four freshmen and eight transfers.
  • Six of the transfers come from NCAA Division I schools, while others include a Division II guard and a junior college forward from Dodge City, Kansas.
  • Notably, the team includes players from five countries: Canada, Romania, Germany, Australia, and Spain.
  • Three new players hail from Australia, with Bella Green, Zoe Shanahan, and Shorna Preston bringing diverse backgrounds to the team.

Looking forward, the Waves have a game scheduled against #18 USC on November 28, showcasing their competitive spirit.

Series History

In their 26 matchups with the Titans, Pepperdine leads 15-11, including 6-5 on the road. However, the Waves haven’t won on the Titans’ turf since the 2016-17 season. In the last ten encounters, Pepperdine has won seven.

Scouting CSU Fullerton

Fullerton, under new head coach John Bonner, is looking to make a mark this season. They finished last season with a record of 7-23 but hope to improve. In their recent exhibition against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, they won decisively, 91-53, with Nicole Steiner and Cristina Jones each scoring 18 points.
