The University of Montevallo is preparing for a flavorful addition to campus dining with the launch of Farmer Food Hall in January 2026. Partnering with Falcon Foods, this new culinary space will be located in the revamped Farmer Hall.

Inside Farmer Food Hall, students can enjoy five unique restaurant options. A central feature will be Freddie’s Kitchen, a food court named by students. Here’s what students can look forward to:

  • City Mac: Customizable macaroni and cheese bowls.
  • BONMi: Delicious Vietnamese sandwiches, salads, and bowls.
  • Veg 23: A focus on vegan and vegetarian delights.

Bojangles Express will also join the lineup, serving its beloved seasoned chicken and biscuits. Einstein Bros. Bagels, a campus favorite, will continue to offer fresh bagels and coffee. Tu Taco, beloved by students, will make a move to the Anna Irvin Dining Hall, expanding choices for all.

This food hall aims to keep pace with student tastes. Jason Quarles, director of dining services for Falcon Foods, stated, “There are 15 concepts we can introduce over time, and students can vote on changes each year.” This allows for a dynamic dining experience that adapts to student preferences.

The renovation comes from insights gathered through the university’s Student Satisfaction Survey. Alongside dining upgrades, improvements will be made to equipment and the game room, making the space more inviting. Construction started on November 3, focusing on safety during the process. Einstein Bros. Bagels will continue to serve students during this transition, maintaining access to dining options.

By improving the dining experience, Farmer Food Hall is set to become a central hub for students. University officials expressed excitement about the upcoming changes, emphasizing the goal of better serving the campus community.

With the growing demand for varied dining options on college campuses, this project reflects a broader trend. A recent survey by the National Association of College and University Food Services revealed that more than 70% of students want healthier meal choices. Universities are increasingly prioritizing student preferences in their dining services, making Farmer Food Hall a timely and relevant development.
