Celebrating Excellence: Binghamton University’s Andrew Kim Honored with AVCA T.E.A.M. Award for Volleyball Coaching Brilliance!

Vestal, N.Y. – Exciting news for Binghamton Volleyball’s Assistant Coach, Andrew Kim! He has earned a T.E.A.M. Award from the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA). This award is a wonderful opportunity for coaches to boost their skills and connect with peers across the country.

The T.E.A.M. Award focuses on Togetherness, Empowerment, Accessibility, and Mentoring. As one of just 44 recipients, Kim, who is backed by the America East Conference, will attend the AVCA Convention from December 17-21, 2025, in Kansas City, Missouri. At the convention, he’ll engage in seminars that cover both personal and professional development, along with opportunities for relationship building.

Kim expressed his gratitude, saying, “I am honored and humbled to be part of this year’s AVCA T.E.A.M. Awards Program. Thank you to Coach Yaeger and the America East Conference for this chance to expand my knowledge and network. As a first-year coach, this recognition means a lot to me.”

Before coaching, Kim was a standout player, earning All-American honors five times at Hobart and Vassar. Now, he’s helping the Bearcats clinch 11 wins this season, including five in America East Conference play.

Binghamton is gearing up for its final home match of the season against Bryant at 6 p.m. on Friday. The team will also celebrate Senior Day by honoring players Emily Cronkhite, Alexandra Koleva, and Merima Smajlovic for their hard work and contributions. Admission is free, thanks to Hinman, Howard & Katell, LLP, the presenting sponsor of Bearcats Volleyball.

Coaches like Kim are vital in shaping the future of sports. According to a recent study by the National Federation of State High School Associations, effective coaching can significantly impact athletes’ performance and mental well-being. Mentorship plays a crucial role in this relationship, and Kim’s recognition is a testament to the importance of continuous learning in athletic leadership.
