The University of Memphis volleyball team is gearing up for an important match against UAB in Birmingham, Alabama on Wednesday at 7 p.m. Fans can catch the action on ESPN+.

Going into this game, Memphis has had a tough season. They recently lost to North Texas, despite some solid performances. Zaniah Hoskins stood out with seven kills, bringing her total to 263 this season. She averages 3.43 kills per set, a strong statistic for any player. Setter Sydney Marshall also contributed with 23 assists, pushing her season total to 353. Janyah Henderson excelled defensively with five blocks, placing her eighth in the American Conference for blocks per game. Meanwhile, Abigail Schlueter added 15 digs to her impressive season total of 339, ranking her third in the conference.

On the other side, UAB comes off a win against Tulane. They have a knack for blocking, ranking fourth in their conference with 198 total blocks this season. Star player Jorda Crook shone brightly last match with a career-high 25 kills and was named the American Conference Offensive Player of the Week. Annastiina Tarkkanen supported the effort with a double-double of 41 assists and 13 digs, while Delaney Bowser led in digs with 15.

Historically, Memphis has had the upper hand in their series with UAB, leading 38-22. However, the Tigers haven’t won a match in Birmingham since 2016, adding pressure for this upcoming game.
