Montana State sophomore Addison Harris shined in the team’s season opener, scoring a career-high 27 points in a big 93-41 win over Carroll College. She was on fire, making 12 of her 16 shots, including three out of four from three-point range.
The Bobcats started strong, scoring the first six points and quickly expanding their lead to 28-13 in the first quarter. Harris contributed 11 points during that time, and several teammates also joined in to score.
“Addison had a phenomenal game,” said head coach Tricia Binford. “We’ve seen her potential since last spring, and she delivered tonight in just 21 minutes.”
The team showcased strong shooting, finishing the game with 51.1% accuracy. Taylee Chirrick also had a solid performance, adding 12 points, while she ended with 19 points after a strong finish. Freshman Heidi Smith came off the bench for 16 points, contributing to a whopping 34 points from the bench.
Binford praised the team’s offensive adjustments, noting improved ball movement and scoring options. “We are deep, and this team is ready to adapt to what we need,” she said.
The second half saw Montana State maintain its dominance, shooting 56.3% and scoring 17 points off turnovers. They forced an impressive 37 turnovers, with freshman Jamison Philip leading the team with five steals.
“Our defense improved a lot since last week,” Binford added.
On the boards, the Bobcats out-rebounded Carroll 39-29, with freshman Kadynce Couture grabbing a game-high nine rebounds.
Montana State will play at Portland on Friday at 7 p.m. (MT).
