Online retailers Shein, Temu, AliExpress, and Wish are facing a serious investigation in France. The Paris prosecutor’s office announced that these platforms are being looked into for allowing minors to access pornographic content.

The investigation began after a complaint from France’s consumer watchdog. They were particularly concerned about Shein selling dolls that resemble children. These products raised alarm about their potential connection to child pornography.

The Paris prosecutor stated that minors could access violent, pornographic, or degrading messages on these sites. AliExpress has responded, asserting that they take the issue seriously. They noted that once they became aware of the problematic listings, they were swiftly removed. According to AliExpress, any sellers violating their guidelines will face penalties.

Similarly, Shein has taken action. They announced a worldwide ban on selling sex dolls and pledged to block seller accounts involved in illegal listings. They also plan to tighten controls on their platform.

The consumer watchdog in France, known as the Directorate General for Competition, Consumer Affairs and Fraud Control, has indicated that the way these dolls were described clearly suggested a connection to child pornography.
