Prime Minister Narendra Modi will launch four new Vande Bharat Express trains on November 8, boosting India’s railway network. These semi-high-speed trains, designed by the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai, will bring the total count of Vande Bharat services to 164.
The new routes include:
Banaras–Khajuraho: This train will cut travel time by about 2 hours and 40 minutes. It links major religious and cultural sites like Varanasi and Khajuraho, enhancing tourism in these areas.
Lucknow–Saharanpur: Covering the journey in approximately 7 hours and 45 minutes, this train will save about an hour of travel time. It serves cities like Sitapur and Bareilly and offers better access to Haridwar, supporting both convenience and regional development.
Firozpur–Delhi: The fastest service on this route will complete the journey in just 6 hours and 40 minutes. It connects Delhi with key cities in Punjab, boosting trade and tourism, and fostering development in border areas.
Ernakulam–Bengaluru: This train will shorten the travel time by over 2 hours, taking about 8 hours and 40 minutes. It connects major IT hubs, making travel easier for professionals and students and stimulating economic growth in the region.
Statistics: According to the Ministry of Railways, Vande Bharat trains have increased passenger numbers significantly, with ridership reaching over 3 million in just a year following their launch.
Expert Opinion: Rail infrastructure expert Dr. Ananya Kumar notes that these new services not only speed up travel but also improve economic prospects. He adds, “Better connectivity promotes investment and tourism, vital for regional growth.”
