Sophomore Bailey Foller-Moll discovered her car with a shattered window just the other night. She quickly realized she wasn’t alone—cars nearby were also broken into. “It was all over my seat and the ground,” she recalled, sharing her distress.
The police have confirmed that the incidents took place on Tuesday at the garage located on North 54th Street. Captain Robert McKeever mentioned that this “smash-and-grab” pattern involved primarily broken passenger side windows. Investigators suspect two individuals behind the vandalism, noting that sometimes the culprits simply smashed a window without taking anything, while in other cases, items were stolen.
“The presence of even small amounts of cash can attract unwanted attention,” McKeever explained. While a victim may have just $20 in change, the cost of fixing a window can reach $300—a significant burden, especially for college students.
Beyond the financial impact, students rely heavily on their cars for transportation. Losing a vehicle is more than just an inconvenience; it affects many aspects of daily life.
