Discover My New Favorite Apple: Juicy, Flavor-Packed, and Even Better than Honeycrisp!

My favorite fall activity is apple picking, and I’m disappointed I can’t visit an orchard this year. To lift my spirits, I decided to try something new: I ordered a four-pound box of apples online. While it’s not quite the same as picking my own, it still lets me enjoy fresh, high-quality apples. Plus, I discovered a new variety I hadn’t tried before.

Yes! Apples offers six different apple varieties on their website, including classics like McIntosh and Honeycrisp, along with a lesser-known variety called Rave, which is my new favorite. These apples come straight from over 50 family farms in New York. So, even though I’m not at a farm, I still get that autumn feel.

The Rave apples surprised me. I had never heard of them before. When I sliced into one, the aroma reminded me of apple juice. I expected them to taste sweet, but they were perfectly tangy with just enough sweetness. They are juicy, crisp, and incredibly satisfying.

I decided to bake with them, making apple cinnamon scones. The Rave apples held their shape perfectly, keeping a nice balance of tanginess and sweetness.

Each box costs about $28, which might seem high, but for quality apples, I think it’s worth it. Unfortunately, they’re currently sold out, so I might just have to stick with my favorite, the Gala, for now.

Beyond taste, this experience made me reflect on how our shopping habits have changed. A recent survey showed that online grocery shopping, including fresh produce delivery, has surged by 30% in the last year. People appreciate the convenience, especially seasonal treats like apples.

The Rave apples are a hybrid between MonArk and Honeycrisp, and they are in season until the month’s end. If you enjoy cooking, there’s a wide range of recipes you can try—everything from muffins to pies.

In summary, even if I missed the orchard this year, a box of Rave apples brought the fall flavor to my kitchen. Whether you’re baking or snacking, these fruits won’t disappoint. Plus, it’s a great way to support local farmers while enjoying delicious apples at home.

Have you tried any unique apple varieties? I’d love to hear about your favorites!
