Box Office Update: “Predator: Badlands” Takes Center Stage
This Friday, 20th Century Studios’ Predator: Badlands is showing promising numbers at the box office. It’s projected to earn around $14 million, setting it up for a solid opening weekend total of about $33 million. With screenings in 3,725 theaters, it aims to secure the second-best opening in the Predator franchise.
For context, the franchise’s top opener is the 2004 film Alien vs. Predator, which grossed $16.4 million on its first Friday and $38.2 million in its opening weekend.

Other notable releases include Black Phone 2, which earned $4.2 million for a total of $69 million over three weekends, and Sarah’s Oil, debuting with $1.6 million.
This latest installment of the Predator series, directed by Dan Trachtenberg, is particularly noteworthy for its strong female lead. Badlands is not only attracting viewers but also outpacing The Predator, which opened with $2.5 million in previews back in 2018.
Interestingly, Predator: Badlands has received a remarkable 96% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes, making it a fan favorite. This is an impressive feat compared to the 1987 original, which stands at 87%.
