New Vande Bharat Trains Flagged Off in Varanasi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently inaugurated four new Vande Bharat Express trains at Varanasi Railway Station. This event celebrated India’s engineering strength and self-reliance. The launches included the Varanasi–Khajuraho train in person and the Delhi–Ferozepur, Lucknow–Saharanpur, and Ernakulam–Bengaluru trains virtually.
Attending the ceremony were several dignitaries, including Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnav. PM Modi greeted citizens in Bhojpuri, marking the city’s Development Festival.
The Importance of Infrastructure
During his speech, PM Modi emphasized how critical modern rail infrastructure is for a developing nation. He stated that India is rapidly growing through improved railways and roads, with over 160 Vande Bharat trains now operational. “These trains are built by Indians for Indians,” he noted, calling them a matter of national pride.
Tourism and Economy
Modi spoke about the dual role of pilgrimage in India. It serves both as a spiritual journey and an economic driver. He highlighted popular pilgrimage sites like Prayagraj and Ayodhya, which have gained better connectivity through these new trains. In the last year alone, 11 crore pilgrims visited Baba Vishwanath Dham, and over 6 crore visited Ayodhya. This influx has significantly boosted local businesses and created numerous jobs.
Kashi as a Health and Development Center
Kashi is emerging as a focal point for healthcare in the region, with modern hospitals and health initiatives like Ayushman Bharat making advanced care accessible. PM Modi mentioned various ongoing projects like new roads and gas pipelines, which are enhancing the city’s infrastructure.
Fostering Youth Talent
The Prime Minister also celebrated the creativity of Kashi’s youth, who showcased their poems and artwork during the event. He expressed pride in their talent and proposed hosting a national poetry conference to give them broader exposure.

PM Modi wrapped up his address by reinforcing Kashi’s vital role in achieving a developed India. He encouraged the community to maintain the momentum of progress, with the new Vande Bharat trains set to improve regional connectivity and promote economic growth.
