Carson Smith, president of the ATU Student Government Association, shared how this initiative has lasting impacts. “Some students continue the spirit of giving during Thanksgiving and Christmas by distributing cookies,” he noted. “These connections lead to internships, jobs, and strong community ties. Our students truly want to give back to the community that supports them.” He emphasized how this day reflects their commitment, despite the busy schedules filled with classes and exams.
On November 8, around 375 students gathered at sunrise to kick off the 2025 event. They spread out to 38 different locations, taking on tasks like raking leaves and cleaning parks.
Smith also discussed the broader importance of community service. “It helps students become well-rounded individuals. In any career, you’ll need to engage with the community,” he said. Green and Gold Give Back started in 2013 and is managed by the ATU Department of Campus Life.
