November 7 marks N7 Day, a special day for fans of BioWare’s Mass Effect series. Although 2025 passed without new details on the much-anticipated fifth game, BioWare shared an intriguing piece of art that hints at future developments in the Mass Effect universe.
The new artwork, titled “Civil War,” shows Krogan warriors in a fierce battle, showcasing their well-known aggressiveness. Mike Gamble, the project director, hinted that this scene depicts a “future event” occurring after the original trilogy and possibly after Mass Effect Andromeda. This is interesting since Andromeda takes place centuries after the original games in a different galaxy. Gamble also reassured fans that all teasers from previous N7 Days will tie together somehow.
For years, BioWare has been dropping hints about the new installment, mainly through concept art. These glimpses reveal a galaxy recovering from the Reaper war and inhabitants of Andromeda exploring Remnant technology. In 2023, a brief 30-second clip showed a character in a striking N7 jacket. This figure could be a central character in the upcoming game or someone important to the storyline.
Along with the Krogan artwork, BioWare emphasized that they are solely focused on developing Mass Effect. They mentioned the vast universe left to explore and a variety of features and romances to create. They are enthusiastic about what they are building and promised fans that the reveal will be exciting when it happens.
An interesting fact to consider: surveys suggest that the Mass Effect series has maintained a loyal fan base. According to a recent poll, over 60% of gamers still remember their choices from the trilogy, which shows how deeply the story has resonated with players.
As BioWare works on Mass Effect 5, they also have plans for a show on Prime Video. It appears there’s a lot to look forward to, and fans are eagerly waiting for updates on both the game and the series.
