COLUMBIA, S.C. – The South Carolina Department of Public Health (DPH) is looking to strengthen its ties with faith-based organizations throughout the state. They want to hear from faith leaders about what their communities need.
To gather this input, DPH has launched a brief survey. This helps them understand how they can work together to improve health in South Carolina.
This initiative, called Healthy Faith Partnerships, is a response to a goal set by interim DPH Director Edward Simmer. He wants to connect with every faith group in the state. “There are thousands of faith organizations here. They can greatly influence the health of their members and the community,” Simmer noted.
A 2022 survey showed that over 70% of faith-based organizations are eager to collaborate with public health entities. This trend highlights the potential impact these partnerships can have on community wellness.
Any faith organization can participate in the Healthy Faith Partners Survey. Those who cannot complete it online can ask for a paper version at their local DPH office or contact them via email or phone during business hours.
