Discover Why OSU Students Can’t Stop Raving About Dos Hermanos Food Truck!

At Ohio State University, one food spot has captured the hearts of students: the Dos Hermanos Taco Truck. This vibrant truck isn’t just another eatery—it’s a campus favorite.

Izzy Gates, a third-year arts management student, describes it as a “campus staple.” She believes every student has visited it at least once. “It never disappoints,” she adds. In 2025, students voted it the best food truck in The Lantern’s Best of OSU edition, receiving 495 votes.

Founded in 2012 by Lisa and Vicente Gutierrez, Dos Hermanos started with a borrowed food truck and $2,000 in savings. They had no formal business training, but passion fueled their journey. Today, they boast five brick-and-mortar locations in Columbus, and they’ve recently expanded to Cincinnati and Athens. They even have a spot inside Ohio Stadium.

Robert Packer, the director of operations at Dos Hermanos, emphasized their connection with the student body. “When students do well, we do well,” he said. It’s about more than just food; it’s about building relationships.

Located conveniently on North Campus, the truck is easily accessible for busy students. Gates recalls discovering the truck parked outside the North Recreation Center during her freshman year, and she was hooked when she found out they accepted her dining plan. “I went there multiple times a week,” she shared, praising the friendly staff.

The food reflects the heart of Oaxacan-style Mexican cuisine, crafted with local ingredients. Packer believes their commitment to authenticity and quality sets them apart. “The food is fresh, and the portions are generous,” he asserted.

Though some students find Dos Hermanos a bit pricier than other options, many agree that the quality justifies the cost. Gates loves the nachos and steak quesadilla, which come with delicious sides like guacamole and salsa.

Fan favorites include birria tacos and loaded nachos, but Packer has a soft spot for the simplicity of Mexican street tacos. “There’s nothing better,” he said.

This warm, community-oriented approach is part of why Dos Hermanos is a go-to for students. Packer appreciates that students choose them over other dining options. It shows they are succeeding in delivering great food and a positive experience.

In today’s competitive food scene, Dos Hermanos stands as a testament to the power of good food and community connection. As they continue to grow, their commitment to quality and connection with the Ohio State family remains strong.
