Quakers Gear Up for NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regionals: A Look at the University of Pennsylvania’s Journey

PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania’s cross country teams are gearing up for the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional Championships in Bethlehem, Pa., this Friday.

The season has been exciting for both teams.

In early September, Lara Cota shined at the Jersey Jam, taking second place with a personal best of 14:07.4 for 4.1k. At the Paul Short Run, she clocked a 6k time of 20:51.7, just edging out Gabby Jones, who ran it in 20:51.9. Jones also set her own personal best of 20:50.3 at the Princeton Fall Classic.

The women kicked off their season with a win at Princeton, scoring 32 points. Cota was the standout, finishing second. Other highlights included Izzy Rodriguez in fifth and L’Mio Edwards in ninth.

On the men’s side, Sahil Dodda led the team to victory at the Main Line Invitational with a four-mile personal best of 19:19.6, helping the team score 24 points.

At the 2025 Ivy League Cross Country Championships, the women placed fourth with 105 points. Anna Werich was the top performer, finishing ninth and earning All-Ivy Second Team honors. Meanwhile, the men’s team finished seventh with 167 points, marked by Kofi Fordjour’s 18th place finish in 25:14.9.

Both teams are prepared as they head into the championships.
