HOUSTON — Rice men’s basketball coach Rob Lanier has announced three new signings for the 2026-27 season: Alexander Leeth, Kaiden Myers, and Jaxson Thompson.
Coach Lanier is excited about these additions. “They fit our program perfectly. They bring high character, competitiveness, and skills to the table,” he said.
Alexander Leeth hails from Knoxville, Tennessee. The 6-7 forward played at the Webb School, helping his team to a stellar 34-2 season and a state title. Last year, he averaged 10.8 points and 4.6 rebounds. Coach Lanier sees Leeth as key for the program, noting, “He’s a great athlete and an excellent shooter, well-coached at the high school level.”
Kaiden Myers, a 6-4 guard from McKinney, Texas, is currently a sophomore at Kilgore College. In his recent five games, he’s averaging 14.8 points and impressive defensive stats. He’s well-rounded, having led his team last year with 18.1 points per game and earning academic honors. “Kaiden is a versatile player who can create plays and score. He’s unselfish and brings maturity that will make an impact,” Lanier shared.
Jaxson Thompson, a 6-2 guard from Dallas, comes from the Greenhill School. He averaged 19.2 points, leading his team to a 30-4 record last season. Recognized as All-State, he’s also a two-time All-District player. Coach Lanier described Thompson as “dynamic with tremendous potential,” emphasizing his scoring ability and strong skills.
