Lamar Jackson is ready to play against the Cleveland Browns, confirmed Head Coach John Harbaugh on Friday.
After missing Wednesday’s practice due to some knee soreness from the Ravens’ victory over the Minnesota Vikings, Jackson was back at full strength on Thursday and participated again on Friday. He mentioned that minor injuries are just part of the game.
Running back Justice Hill also returned on Friday after sitting out the first two practices this week with a toe issue. His return boosts the Ravens’ chances of improving their rushing game, especially after struggling in their last matchup against the Browns.
On the downside, several key players were absent on Friday. Wide receiver Rashod Bateman (ankle), cornerback Marlon Humphrey (finger), inside linebacker Jay Higgins IV (knee), outside linebacker Mike Green (ankle), and left tackle Ronnie Stanley weren’t spotted. Both Humphrey and Higgins are confirmed to be out for the game. Stanley, however, got a rest day the previous Friday.
Bateman hasn’t practiced all week after his injury against the Vikings, making his availability for Sunday unclear. If he can’t go, Devontez Walker will step up, making his first appearance since Week 5.
Mike Green showed up on the injury report as a limited participant on Thursday. Losing him would be tough, considering he has played over 70% of the Ravens’ defensive snaps recently and had a standout performance in his last game.
Coach Harbaugh noted, “He’s doing good. He didn’t practice today. We’ll see how he is tomorrow and then into Sunday.”
As the Ravens prepare for the Browns, it’s important to remember the significance of player health. According to a recent NFL injury report, injuries have affected game outcomes significantly. Teams with key players missing tend to struggle. The Ravens, with their current injury list, will need to rely on their depth and adaptability.
Additional Insight: Historically, the Ravens’ rushing attack has been a cornerstone of their game plan. In recent seasons, the team’s ability to run effectively has correlated with winning, making this Sunday’s performance critical not just for the game but for their overall strategy this season.
