XSEED Games has canceled the Western release of the Corpse Party Tetralogy Pack for the Nintendo Switch. This decision means both the physical and digital versions of the collection will not be available outside Japan. The company revealed that the games didn’t meet current platform guidelines, making it impossible to proceed.
In a public note, XSEED acknowledged fans’ excitement for the release and explained the cancellation. They apologized for any disappointment this may cause, emphasizing that this was not an easy decision.
The Tetralogy Pack includes four interconnected horror games set in a cursed school. They are:
- The updated Corpse Party (2021)
- Corpse Party Book of Shadows
- Corpse Party Sweet Sachiko’s Hysteric Birthday Bash (a comedic spin-off)
- Corpse Party Blood Drive
While the pack launched in Japan on August 7, 2025, the Western edition will not move forward.
Despite this setback, XSEED is still committed to working with MAGES. They plan to bring Corpse Party II: Darkness Distortion to Western audiences. More details will be announced soon.
Interestingly, the horror genre in gaming has grown significantly in recent years. According to a 2023 report from the Entertainment Software Association, over 50% of gamers enjoy horror games. This growing interest shows that there’s still an audience eager for more horror titles, even if this particular collection won’t be available.
Fans have taken to social media to express their disappointment, showcasing the enduring passion for the Corpse Party series. The conversation around this cancellation highlights a larger trend: companies must adapt to changing guidelines and audience expectations in the gaming landscape.
