Join the Movement: Discover How Qatar Sustainability Week Ignites Environmental Awareness

During Qatar Sustainability Week 2025, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change organized engaging lectures and hands-on workshops in local schools and universities. This year’s event marked the 10th edition and was a massive success, featuring over 700 activities and attracting thousands of participants committed to promoting eco-friendly living.

The Earthna Centre for a Sustainable Future, part of the Qatar Foundation, led this initiative alongside the Ministry. Engineer Ahmed Mohammed al-Sada from the Ministry highlighted the significance of teamwork among government, businesses, and community groups to foster environmental awareness. He stressed that this week’s outcomes will guide future projects aimed at reducing environmental impacts and managing natural resources better.

Al-Sada also stated the Ministry’s dedication to collaborating with different sectors, ensuring the ongoing growth of environmental initiatives aligned with Qatar’s National Environment and Climate Change Strategy. These efforts contribute to the goals set out in Qatar National Vision 2030.

Dr. Gonzalo Castro de la Mata, Earthna’s executive director, expressed pride in the collective achievements over the past decade. He emphasized how this unity has shaped Qatar’s sustainable future and the positive changes it inspires at all societal levels.

Preparations for Qatar Sustainability Week 2026 are already in motion, with plans to broaden its reach and enhance its influence within schools, communities, and the private sector.

In a world increasingly impacted by climate change, initiatives like Qatar Sustainability Week are crucial. According to a recent survey by the World Economic Forum, over 90% of individuals believe fostering environmental awareness in youth is essential for a sustainable future.

This shows a growing recognition that tackling environmental challenges requires community involvement and education. Events like Qatar Sustainability Week not only raise awareness but also lay the groundwork for future generations to continue these efforts.

As we look towards 2026, the momentum gained from this year’s activities can inspire even more significant and meaningful actions in promoting sustainability throughout Qatar and beyond.
