JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The University of Jamestown’s women’s hockey team, ranked No. 10 in the ACHA Division 1, faced a tough game against fourth-ranked Minot State University, losing 5-3 at the John L. Wilson Arena.
Minot State wasted no time, scoring four goals in the first period. Kaitlyn Snyder got things rolling at 3:58. Abby Tallman and Krissy Rink added two more before the end of the period, giving the Beavers a solid lead. The Jimmies managed to score just before the first intermission, with Maddison Andrew netting an unassisted goal at 19:18, making it 4-1.
In the second period, Andrew struck again early, with help from Samantha Beaulac at 2:41, reducing the deficit to 4-2. But Minot State quickly responded with a goal from Olivia Kirwan at 14:41, extending their lead to 5-2.
The final goal of the game came from Emma Durand, who scored unassisted at 19:26 in the third period. Despite the loss, Durand’s goal showcased the Jimmies’ resilience.
The game saw two goaltenders for Jamestown. Lilah Drew started but left after making 9 saves on 13 shots. Maddie Sylvestre stepped in and performed admirably, saving 22 of 23 shots in the remaining time. Overall, Minot State outshot Jamestown 36-21 and capitalized on their power play chances, going 1-for-1 while Jamestown failed to score on three power plays.
