Unlock Exclusive Travel Benefits: Kerala Passengers Get Priority Upgrades on Vande Bharat! Discover Your Quota Now!

The Indian Railways is making exciting changes for travellers on the Bengaluru–Ernakulam Vande Bharat train. To make it easier for passengers from Kerala to book tickets, the Railways plans to adjust the ticket quotas. Right now, those boarding from Ernakulam find it tough to get seats, while passengers from Coimbatore enjoy more availability. This issue came up during a recent Divisional Railway Users’ Consultative Committee (DRUCC) meeting, where members requested a quick solution.

The committee also suggested additional services, including 16-coach MEMU trains, new routes, and security improvements for night travel. They emphasized the need for faster development at important terminals like Nemom and Kochuveli, and proposed a new terminal in Ernakulam.

A video showcasing the scenic Vande Bharat journey has gone viral on social media, with many praising the beautiful views between Palakkad and Coimbatore. However, some passengers pointed out that dirty train windows spoil the view, raising awareness about cleanliness.

In a significant development, the Indian Railways will launch the country’s first-ever Vande Bharat sleeper trains in January. This move responds to the strong demand for overnight travel options. Plans are in place to build eight sleeper coaches by March, improving overnight travel conditions with modern comforts. These coaches are being manufactured at the Integrated Coach Factory in Perambur, and trials for the new service are progressing well.

Until now, all Vande Bharat trains were designed for daytime travel. The introduction of sleeper coaches will allow these trains to offer long-distance overnight services. A prototype has already been tested, and trial runs for the first sleeper train are expected to start in January.

One of the key routes under consideration is the Bengaluru–Kanyakumari corridor, a popular travel path in Southern India. The introduction of sleeper trains is expected to revolutionize overnight rail travel by combining speed and comfort.

According to recent data, rail travel in India has surged, with over 8 billion journeys recorded in 2022, highlighting the growing demand for efficient transit options. The introduction of these sleeper services reflects a significant step in modernizing the rail network and meeting passengers’ needs for convenient travel solutions.
