Join Us for Hockey Fights Cancer Night with the Ducks & UCI Health on Thursday, Nov. 20!

The Ducks are gearing up for a special night at the Honda Center on Thursday, November 20, starting at 7 p.m. It’s Hockey Fights Cancer Night, part of the NHL’s initiative to stand with cancer patients and their families. This event shines a light on UCI Health, an important partner in this cause, and supports the Jessie Rees Foundation.

One of the highlights will be the ceremonial puck drop, featuring Mauricio Alvarez. Mauricio is a UCI Health patient who faced advanced stage IV stomach cancer. With the help of doctors at the UCI Health Chao Family Comprehensive Cancer Center, he participated in an innovative clinical trial. This trial combined chemotherapy with surgery, effectively treating his cancer. Two years after his diagnosis, Mauricio is thriving, working, and enjoying time with his family while undergoing monthly immunotherapy.

During the game, fans can honor loved ones who have fought cancer. Tribute cards will be available at various locations around the arena, allowing everyone to share their stories.

The Ducks are also encouraging fans to join the Crazy Socks for Courageous Kids JoyDrive. By donating bright, kid-sized socks, fans can help fill JoyJars for children battling cancer. These jars are filled with toys and activities, spreading joy to kids in hospitals. The Jessie Rees Foundation works hard to ensure that these children know they should “Never Ever Give Up.”

As a thank you, the first 200 sock donors will receive a Chick-fil-A® card for a free sandwich. Additionally, ticket raffles for Chick-fil-A and a signed Ducks jersey will be available for $5, with proceeds going to the Jessie Rees Foundation.

Fans can also participate in an auction for player-autographed Hockey Fights Cancer jerseys. The bidding starts at noon PT on November 20, and ends at noon PT on November 21. All the money raised will support the Jessie Rees Foundation.
