Liberty University Launches Investigation After Student Threatened with Stabbing and Strangulation on Campus

LYNCHBURG, Va. — The Liberty University Police Department is looking into a troubling incident that took place on campus.

On November 19, 2025, an assault occurred on the Academic Lawn, close to the Center for Natural Sciences. According to police, a man confronted a female student with a knife. During the encounter, he asked if she had ever been stabbed and then followed her into a nearby building. He threatened her while brandishing the knife, saying he wanted to strangle her.

Police have reported that the victim doesn’t know the suspect well. He has since been arrested but was later released. Details about him indicate he is a 20-year-old white male, approximately 5’9″, weighing around 140 pounds, with brown hair and eyes. At the time of the incident, he wore jeans, a blue puffer jacket, and a blue baseball cap.

To ensure the safety of the campus community, Liberty University has taken steps to keep the suspect away from the area.
